Julia Smay - On Owning Her Strength

I had the honor and pleasure to sit down and have a virtual chat with California's Strongest Woman, Julia Smay. When the Belle of the Bar admin team made our wish list of female athletes to interview, Julia was a "no brainer." She has such poise and grace and fierceness. Any strongwoman looking for a role model should look no further. Julia is the complete package. She owns her strength, and helps others own theirs. She is an athlete, mentor, and coach. Her impressive journey into strongWOman is just getting started, and she has no plans of stopping any time...

Macros - A StrongWOman’s Experience

Since January 2017, I have been experimenting with using macro nutrients as a means of body re-composition (ie. cutting fat and building muscle) and in the process, I have moved down to a lighter strongWOman weight class/division. I had the pleasure of interviewing three of the four female athletes from America's Strongest Disabled Athlete set to take place May 13th in Columbus, Ohio. This year is the first year for a female class to be filled at this competition, and not with just one or two women. We were excited to see that there four females signed up to compete, and we knew we wanted to hear their stories. Sabrina Reiswig, Amber Stoffel, and Holly Miller are names you will hear again, because these ladies are doing big things in the world of adaptive strength. To call...

Athlete Interview - Joan Jennings

It was inspiring and insightful having a conversation with Joan Jennings to ask her some questions about how she became such a well-rounded, incredibly talented strongwoman and record-breaking powerlifter. You'd be surprised to hear how often she trains, and at how she admirably expressed her strength goals up front when she first met her husband. She is a fearless competitor with a fierce heart, and we at Belle of the Bar love how she advocates for women to be more. We discussed how her journey lead her to become such a badass competitor, and how she was taught the value...

You are Enough - Vlog

You're perfect in your current state of being. You are ever changing, ever evolving, and you are enough. There is no magic number or achievement that will give you quite the same feeling as realizing once and for all that you are "enough." Let go of your mental benchmarks and be more, for the sole purpose of being you. No matter what, we should never stop pulling. <3 -Raeanne
